She has left the only home she has ever known. Her husband and 2 sons left behind until June, she is trying to adjust. Not just to a new job, but new state, new customs and (yikes) new temperatures! Thank God for Skype, e-mails, text messaging, Face Book and other means she is using to keep in touch with her husband, sons, grandmother, and her friends whom she has known since she was 3 years old. Yes, she is facing many scary and unsettling changes.
My changes haven't been that crazy, but they are as unsettling and scary. I have moved my office from the spare room to make Melodie comfortable and allowing her privacy. Now my office is in the living room and is in the center of our home. I have a new job with Maury County Health Department. The challenge is finding twenty-nine hours to work every week. I am blessed with several speaking engagements to teach "How to Pray", "Marketing on the Social Media" and Writing for the Generations- Christmas Edition" for November and December so at least that hasn't changed!
Our ministry is growing with additional tech items, however. Tim Talbot (my personal Techo Geek) has set up a radio station to play sermons, Cellophane Ministries Bible studies, even some of the seminars on writing- is going to be played.
Every time I speak to Tim about how things are going he is coming up with a new technology for us to try. Last night at Maury County Library he recorded me talking with the power point presentation in the background. He says next, he can put a small box on the video and show the power point and my picture all in the same video. Will wonders ever cease?
Last night we also got to try (or at least offer) to our clients and guests, the opportunity to use credit cards. Just think, on my Droid, I get to use an free app that allows me to swipe a credit card... wow!
But I have another HUGE change. I have been called to be part of a new church. After 4 years with Southside Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, I will be attending and serving at Cross Point Church in Nashville. The good news they will be starting a new campus in Franklin, TN and I plan to be there! I am so excited to be used in this new church with home groups, mission minded people and a pastor who is so dynamic. You can check out Cross Point at www.crosspoint.tv.com.
Sadly, I feel like I am cutting off my arm leaving Southside Baptist, Pastor Danny Laster and so many others who have touched my life, held my hand, bolstered me up and mopped up my tears, but it is time for change. It's time to grow, to serve and to be all that Jesus wishes me to be.
God never promised that we wouldn't have trails or that we would stay the same. Didn't he change us forever at Calvary? So, as I try to help my daughter in these radical changes in her life- I know that the change is good for her and her family. I have a grand peace that the changes of my company and myself are changes for the furtherance of the gospel of Him who loves us best.
In His Grip, Trish
